New Dawn Fades is a small, compressed and at the same time sharp exhibition introducing five new works by AVPD. These new works hold a special and peculiar position in AVPD’s oeuvre and are composed of odd elements of science fiction, glitter and low status materials like plastic, plaster and packaging. AVPD’s works create an interesting blend that combines ideas and strategies from usually differentiated artistic positions like conceptual art, arte povera and pop art through the use of ready-made forms, ordinary materials and elements from everyday life with a critical edge. The works are all based on found aesthetics from the consumer culture: obsolete signs, used packaging and visual waste. Things that have all undergone a design process with a strong focus on functionality, but which are now left as useless remains. With the exhibition New Dawn Fades AVPD aims to empower these remains and realize their strong aesthetical potential and that way turn leftovers into value packs.
