Displacement Pavilion

YEAR : 2009
EXHIBITION : Roskilde Festival / Fusetown, Roskilde, DK
MEASURES : Ø 1500 cm x 300 cm
MATERIALS : Lexan boards, acrylic boards, aluminium frames, wooden fillets, rubber strips, screws, melamin coated chip boards, OSB-boards, glass mirrors, halogen spots, neon tubes.

The work was created on request from the music festival Roskilde Festival. They wanted a work of art that could be a centre point in the festival area.

The work revolves around two significant characteristics of the music festival and its 75.000 participants. The first characteristic is a mental one. The participants have an openness towards and engagement in artistic, social and chemical stimuli. The other characteristic is caused by the first and is a constant movement of people from one place to another. Displacement Pavilion aims at creating an un-chemical disruption of reality by displacing the participants movement through the pavilion. What appears to be a direct shortcut turns into a 90 degrees detour.
